RUD project aims at developing and validating innovative integrated technologies capable of performing searches and comparing both unstructured and heterogeneous files, this is, non-structured data from 2D files/3D models. RUD tools will allow to classify and (re)organize documents and 3D models. The main challenge is to successfully integrate it in the field of restructuring vector graphics files, for which nothing has been done at this date and made a link with ERP and MES of large companies.

In manufacturing companies, 2D and 3D files and models are linked to a huge amount of that data. A 2D/3D files are the electronic files representing respectively a two/three-dimensional object. They are designed by 2D/3D modelling so the desired object can be printed with a 2D/3D printer correspondingly. These 2D/3D files are created by Computer Aided Design (CAD). These data contain a lot of important information about the company (its processes, products, etc.) which, if adequately structured, could be used and provide very valuable knowledge. However, due to the current unavailability to transfer this data from one application to another, this available data is poorly or not reused today.

 

RUD’s tools are different and innovative from the existing solutions because the current solution consists in printing documents and assigning a human operator who does 100% of the work manually to visually compare the files and find differences.

Our solution is necessary and designed to maximize performance as well as manufacturing efficiency because companies that have to manage graphical documents must rapidly and easily identify differences and similarities between 2 versions of the same file in heterogeneous format.

On the other hand, in the context of the increasing digitalization of industrial companies, the correlation with ERP and MES systems values the tool’s capabilities, feeding operational analyzes, with financial information and productive management and allowing significant time savings. These contributions establish competitive characteristics in the face of similar competition.
